eDreams Travel Platform Adds Catalan Language for Online Booking

The global travel platform eDreams has officially added Catalan as a language option on its website navigation. Users can now plan and book flights, hotels, and car rentals in Catalan, thanks to this update announced by the Catalan Government's Department of Language Policy. Founded in 2000 and originally based in California, eDreams moved its headquarters to Barcelona before later relocating to Madrid in 2017 amid political tensions in Catalonia. Despite its long presence in Catalonia and a significant workforce in Barcelona, the company had not supported Catalan language services until now. This change follows pressure from Catalan language advocacy groups who highlighted that eDreams previously offered localized versions for Swiss German, French and Italian speakers, and Canadian English and French speakers, but not for Catalan speakers in Spain. The inclusion of Catalan on eDreams aligns it with other travel portals like Destinia, Trabber, Kayak, and Booking which already support the language. For expatriates and locals alike, this means easier online trip planning in Catalan, reflecting growing recognition of regional languages in Spain in digital services.
