Asturian Fiscal Policy Saves Middle Class Nearly 90 Million Euros in 2024 Budget
Asturias has exceeded expectations with its 2024 fiscal policy, delivering almost 90 million euros in tax savings for the middle class. The regional government's tax deductions for the income tax (IRPF) campaign reached 89.9 million euros, beating the initial estimate of 70 million by nearly 20 million.
Guillermo Peláez, the Asturian Government's spokesperson, shared these provisional figures with the regional Parliament's Finance Commission. The biggest beneficiaries are young people and families with dependents.
Key deductions include around 12 million euros for essential expenses of young people and almost 30 million euros for families caring for children up to 25 years old — double the impact since 2022. Families with two children have also enjoyed benefits, with a 16 million euro tax impact and a tenfold increase in beneficiaries.
Housing-related deductions nearly doubled to 20 million euros, including incentives for homeowners renting out property, which surpassed a million euros in its first year.
Over 107,000 taxpayers used these deductions in 2024, up more than 19,000 from 2023, highlighting strong uptake among Asturian middle classes.
