Reus City Council (Ajuntament de Reus) will manage a €19.5 million investment plan in 2026, focusing on public works, innovation, sustainability, and social care. This is the third-largest investment in 15 years, ahead of only the 2024 and 2025 budgets. The funding splits between €11.6 million from the city and €7.8 million from municipal companies and autonomous bodies. The public works department leads the investment, receiving €4.85 million for projects like the transformation of Carrer Astorga (€1.2 million+), upgrades to Carrer Escultor Rocamora, and burying electric lines in El Pinar. Urban maintenance will continue with plans for road resurfacing, sidewalk improvements, street lighting, tree planting, parking facilities, and playground upgrades. Municipal facilities get €3.2 million, including nearly €2 million to build the new L’Ametller nursery school and improvements at civic centers and schools. Other investments cover housing policies (€240,000) for buying new rental flats and renovating buildings in Fortuny district; culture (€1.37 million) to convert the Centre Catòlic into a performing arts center; environment (€593,000) for charging stations, stream and rural path improvements, and a solar garden study. Public companies will manage nearly €8 million, including 2.7 million to upgrade parking systems and public bike networks. Water supply and reuse projects receive €2.6 million. Economic development, transport, and sports facilities also see targeted investments. The plan maintains the city’s investment effort without increasing local taxes or debt, aiming to boost urban quality and social services in Reus.
