Rail workers union Semaf calls five-day strike at Catalonia's FGC amid ongoing Rodalies disruptions

Rail workers at Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) will strike for five days on February 24-25 and March 2-4, announced the Sindicato Español de Maquinistas y Ayudantes Ferroviarios (Semaf). This comes during ongoing service issues with Rodalies Renfe, the regional commuter rail network. Semaf, representing just 13% of FGC train drivers, is demanding attention amid sustained mobility problems in Catalonia. FGC said it was surprised by the strike call, noting Semaf's minority status and that no formal proposals were submitted to company management or safety committees beforehand. FGC plans to run trains following directions from the Generalitat's Department of Empresa y Trabajo and will provide updates via its official social media and apps.
